Perseveration is a fancy medical word for repeating the same behavior or thought endlessly. It is also a good explanation of my creative process. I think creative people are prone to such behavior. Why else do we sit in our studios, offices, and basements writing, coding, drawing, and painting on the same canvas, screen, or paper when we could be watching American Idol like everyone else?
Let’s call it a healthy obsession with creating things, and not quitting when better sense suggests it an affliction that began long ago and doesn’t seem to be clearing up anytime soon.
